MWS - Project Cargo Surveys
In various marine sectors, particularly in renewable and oil and gas development projects, the transportation of large-scale modular cargo and other project-critical, high-value equipment and assets is often a necessity. The operations involving the loadout, transportation, offloading, and discharge of warranted project cargo carry inherent risks. ORCA has extensive experience as Marine Warranty Surveyors (MWS) in overseeing all types of project cargo transportation projects. This includes handling large-scale modular items weighing up to 1800 tonnes for projects like the Tengizchevroil FGP-WPMP, as well as smaller modules, skids, and project equipment transported on vessels used for more general maritime trade.
Experts in all vessel types
ORCA seamlessly integrates a rich maritime legacy and expertise in marine assurance and risk across all vessel types, coupled with market-leading experience in Marine Warranty Surveying (MWS) for a diverse array of oil & gas and offshore renewables projects. This distinctive combination empowers our teams with unparalleled knowledge encompassing different vessel types and their associated operations, complemented by a deep understanding of the various cargo types involved.
Our familiarity spans a range of vessels, including general cargo ships, heavy lift ships, and flat top cargo barges. Loading and discharge operations typically employ shore-side cranes or the ship's own derricks. Additionally, we have extensive experience with the use of ro-ro (roll-on/roll-off) vessels for project cargo operations, employing heavy haul trailers, transporters, and self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) for loading and discharging cargo.
Our expertise extends to both in-gauge and out-of-gauge project cargo land transportation operations. This encompasses the entire journey from fabrication to the loading port or from the discharge port to the project site, culminating in the final placement at the designated site location.
