On/Off-Hire Surveys
This inspection is conducted to the vessel at the beginning and/or end of the chartering and aims at checking the overall condition of the vessel.
The on/off hire condition survey involves a comprehensive inspection of a vessel's holds, main deck, cargo working areas, and external shell plating. Its purpose is to identify any pre-existing damage before the vessel is put on or taken off hire.
With years of repetitive experience, our surveyors have become experts in analyzing vessels. Every detail, from bulkheads, ladders, and pipes to corrugates, lower and upper hoppers, bilges, tank top plating, manholes, hatch coamings, hatch covers, and various other structures, is meticulously examined by the keen eyes of experienced professionals.
ORCA initiates on/off hire condition surveys at berthing time, before loading commences or at the end of a discharging operation. This allows for a precise inspection of the holds without cargo inside. The findings are documented in a comprehensive Survey Report, including details of anomalies discovered, general particulars of the vessel, relevant documents, and a photography list illustrating the vessel's actual condition. Seatech aims to issue the Survey Report within three days of completing the inspection.
This survey is then compared with the previous condition survey conducted on the vessel to ascertain whether new damage has occurred during cargo operations and/or from stevedores' activities.
